Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our fathers, grandfathers and special father figures a very Happy Father’s Day for this Sunday.

It was fantastic to see so many dads join us for our special Father’s Day morning on Tuesday. My sincere thanks to our wonderful P & F for organising tea, coffee, and a sweet treat for both adults and children to enjoy together. A big thank you also to Mr Daidone and Mr Ross for capturing so many special moments on camera (some of which I have shared below). It was also very moving to see so many fathers and families joining us at Mass, sharing in the prayer life of our school community.

A huge thank you to our incredible P & F team for putting together such a wonderful Father’s Day Stall yesterday!  Events like this take hours of background work, and we are so appreciative of the heart and energy they pour into it every single year. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly seeing the big smiles and quiet pride as the students carefully picked out something special for their dads.

Planning Week - Week 9

In Week 9 of this term we are streamlining our specialist program so the classroom teachers can receive a full day of uninterrupted planning in preparation for Term 4.  Mr Speranza will also be working with the class teachers in his capacity as Learning and Teaching Leader to assist with planning.

This means all students will have their 6 x 45 minute specialist classes across one day (STEM, eLearning, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Italian and Physical Education).

The specialist timetable for Week 8 will look as follows:

Tuesday - Year 1 & Year 2

Wednesday - Year 3 & Year 4 (Including Year 4 Bike Ed)

Thursday - Year 5 & Year 6

Friday - Prep

Students are to wear their sports uniform on their specialist day for this week.

Dental Van

Semper Dental Van is visiting St Patrick’s Mentone on September 8th.

Students can receive a convenient, in-school dental check-up with no need to miss class or parent’s taking time off work.

Preventative dental care helps identify small issues early, before they become painful or require more extensive, costly treatment.

Eligible children may receive free dental care under the CDBS. For others, our $115 check-up is significantly less than a typical dental visit and may be claimable on private health.

Please complete your child’s consent form here:  https://semperdental.com.au/consent-form/

2026 School Improvement Surveys

In 2026, our school is participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings that students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

We would appreciate it if families could take the time in the next 3 weeks to complete the survey. Information captured ultimately benefits the school and the community.

The survey which will be available online, can be accessed from Monday 31st August and needs to be completed by Friday 18 September 2026. This survey may only be completed once. The survey link is www.orima.com.au/macsfamily . A unique family PIN has been sent home via hard copy notice to each eldest child this week.

Upcoming School Works

During the September school holidays we will be replacing the green front fences on Childers St. as well as removing the Lilly Pilly hedges in the front garden facing Childers St.  We are also working on a project to add signs to the gates for better connection for visitors to our school.
