Reflection

This year marks the ninth anniversary of the publication of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ encyclical to every person living on this planet. Seeds of Hope is the chosen theme of the weeklong Laudato Si’ celebration. We are invited to be seeds of hope in our lives and our world, and to be rooted in the Christian virtues of faith, hope and love.

Faith, hope and love form part of the moral compass for Christians. Faith connects our intellect and our heart and fuels us to act for God in our daily lives. Hope builds our inner strength and perseverance as we work towards futures which more closely reflect God’s plan for the creation. The virtue of love calls us into relationship with one another, all of creation and with our God.

Prayer

All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures.

You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.

Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty.

Fill us with peace, that we may liveas brothers and sisters, harming no one.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes.

Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it,that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

Touch the heartsof those who look only for gainat the expense of the poor and the earth.

Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,to be filled with awe and contemplation,to recognize that we are profoundly unitedwith every creature as we journey towards your infinite light.

We thank you for being with us each day.

Encourage us, we pray, in our strugglefor justice, love and peace.

Amen.

Calling for Altar Servers

It was great to see we had four students receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time recently. Did you know that once a child can receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion they can take part in altar serving at both of our school and parish Masses?

Monsignor Wilkes is looking out for any of our students who would like to become an altar server. Altar Servers must be Catholic and have a basic understanding of the mystery of Jesus present in the Eucharist and of the importance of prayerful reverence in their role as Altar servers.

Servers will be shown how to serve commencing in the near future during lunchtime.

A questionnaire has been sent to all of the families whose children have completed the Sacrament of Holy Communion Preparation Program. If you have any questions regarding altar serving, don't hesitate to get in touch with Mr Hyatt.
