SSA Games - NSW Under 15 AFL Representatives
A big congratulations to Hayden Donohue and Jed Corbett (Year 9) on their outstanding achievements representing New South Wales at the School Sport Australia Championships on the Gold Coast last week. Both boys were integral members of the NSW team and should be incredibly proud of their efforts.
Hayden and Jed showcased their exceptional talent against the best 15-year-old footballers in the country. Jed played a crucial role in the forward line, while Hayden excelled in the midfield.
The NSW team faced a challenging campaign, coming up against Western Australia (the eventual winners of the Championships) and going down by about 40 points. In their second and third games, NSW defeated Tasmania (20 Points) & Suns Lions Academy (50 points) before falling to a very strong Victoria team in the Semi-Finals, resulting in a match for the bronze medal against Queensland. Unfortunately, the scoreline didn't go the boy’s way in the Bronze medal match and they went down to Queensland by 12 points.
While the final result didn’t go their way, Hayden and Jed’s contributions to the team were invaluable. Experiences such as a tour of the Gold Coast Suns training facility, being a part of the opening ceremony with over 2000 Athletes from across Australia and playing with and against some of the best student-athletes in Australia, will undoubtedly shape their football careers and inspire their fellow students.
We extend our congratulations to both boys on this incredible accomplishment. Their dedication and hard work are a testament to their character and commitment to their sport.
Well done, Hayden and Jed!
