Principal Message

It has been a busy few weeks at Kildare in and out of the classroom with a few things to report on.

This week both Kildare and Mount Erin Boarding have had the review validation days which have a significant and comprehensive compliance aspect overseen by CEDWW. I am very pleased to report that both reviews were very successful and affirming of the work being done.

In particular, the panel affirmed the college for its teaching and learning strategies for student growth driven by a deep understanding of our students. Our wellbeing team’s work also came in for strong mention in particular work we have been doing over the past two years in the Positive Behaviour for Learning Space.

This week the college held a mass for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary in the Presentation Chapel. This mass was led by Fr Sean Byrnes and a number of staff and students attended. It has been nice to increase the availability of our chaplain priest Fr Sean Byrnes, Deacon John and seminary students in the life of the college and we look forward to the weekly Friday masses starting next week as a regular invitational opportunity to celebrate mass as a community.

Our football seasons are drawing to a close with our rugby league teams reaching the regional finals of the Country Cup and our boys and girls soccer experiencing varying success. Our girls’ opens soccer have had a splendid season and play their final, next Wednesday, against the Riverina Anglican College. We are always grateful for the generosity of our staff who give their time so willingly to support our students in their own time.

Our girls choir scooped the pool at the Leeton Eisteddfod this week. Congratulations to them and Mrs Hale for this wonderful achievement.

We congratulate Year 12 for the way they have been approaching their Year 12 HSC Trial examinations, an experience designed to try as far as possible to replicate the HSC experience. Many will now be waiting with trepidation for their results but I am sure with confidence that they have put their work in they will be duly rewarded. Congratulations also to the many Year 12’s who have completed and submitted major projects, the culmination of serious and dedicated work over the past twelve months supported by your wonderfully supportive teachers.

We look forward to their return next week and hope they make every lesson count as they continue to prepare for the HSC. All Year 12 families will have received a letter through Compass outline all the events with Year 12 for the rest of the term and I also invite you to revisit my communication with you regarding expectations of Year 12 sent on 2nd July. A good time to discuss things again.

Today we wish Mrs Christie Scutti well as she heads off on Long Service Leave until 19th October and we welcome Mrs Amelia Bright commencing Monday as Acting Assistant Principal. This is a well earned rest for Mrs Scutti also following on from a extremely successful performance growth review in her role last week. We hope she and her husband have a wonderful time travelling through Italy.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the college.
