Library

Hi everyone,

This term the library is exploring the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book Week theme "Reading is Magic". This can refer to the big magics found in books like epic wizard battles, dragons and Ancient Egyptian legends. But it also refers to everyday magic. The simple joy and peace we experience reading alone in a sunny spot or huddled together with family listening to Mum's character voices or watching Dad as he mimes the story while he reads. These small bits of magic are a part of our everyday lives and are moments that are treasured.

We will be celebrating Book Week this year, with our usual parade, that kids are encouraged to dress up as a book character for. The library is also inviting students to come and create a "concrete garden" like children in Bob Graham's shortlisted book " The Concrete Garden."  The activity will run Tuesday Lunchtime during book week.

To continue the book week celebrations, the library is opening the 5/6 Review up to all students across the school to participate in. The 5/6 Review is an area in the library where any student in 5/6 was able to have a review they had written or drawn put on display. This term all students are invited to bring a review they have written or drawn to the library, and it will go on display for others to see.

Lastly, Scholastic Book Club issue 6 will be coming home soon.  If you would like to place an order, please do so by the 5th of September, via the LOOP.

Happy Reading,

Jessica Skerry
