Education Support: Noor Hussein, Sean Collins

Recently the Grade 2 students have been working on improving their reading and editing skills in the classroom. They have recorded themselves reading their work and listened back to it. Sometimes what we hear in our minds as we read our work is different from what we hear when we read it aloud.

Students have also been regularly participating in paired reading where they have given and received feedback. When students learn these skills, they feel more secure in their environment, more capable in their abilities, and learn to overcome setbacks with confidence. This has also allowed them to become more aware of their pace, tone and expression when reading.

In addition to this student have enjoyed listening to and reading texts linked to our Discovery topic this term ‘Where am I in the World’. We are loving seeing all the improvements in reading this term! Keep up the great work, reading interesting and challenging texts at home!
