Achieving Excellence Together
Dear Families,
Last week we had the privilege of celebrating some of Albanvale Primary School's youngest members. On Friday our Prep's marked 100 Days of Primary School in style. Dressed in their best 100-year-old garb our Prep's partied with their parents and carers over doughnuts while making paper crowns. The whole school celebrated this milestone throughout the day, culminating in a special ceremony and parade.
Keeping the Prep theme going, last week we also confirmed first-round enrolments for our 2025 Preps! We're looking at a record number of enrolments for our future Albanvalians. If you have a child due to start Prep in 2025, or know someone who does, make sure you visit the office to get your enrolment forms or pre-enrol online. Completed enrolment forms are due Friday 23 August and now that 1st round offers have been made, places are now subject to availability.
LITFEST 24
Some schools have Book Week, but at Albanvale we have LITFEST! I'm looking forward to seeing what books our students have been inspired by to dress up as on Monday 19 August. At Albanvale Primary School we continue to show our love of reading and writing throughout the week with the APS Writers' Festival, Cohort Spelling Championship and the Albanvale Reading Cafe, open for business on the morning of Thursday 22 August. And who could forget the High 5 Book Fair which will be running across the week? This allows students to turn their positive behaviour into high-quality reading material. This week is all about celebrating and instilling a love of reading in not just our students, but our entire community. I look forward to enjoying the week with you.
Recently our school has been subject to numerous break-ins and attempted burglaries. All of these have occurred overnight with the Police and School security service swiftly responding. As a School Council, we have made the decision to upgrade the school's security network which includes full coverage of grounds with CCTV and upgrading to digitised and monitored lock and alarm systems for every door around the school. See the article below to find out more about our CCTV system and privacy policy. Lastly, as we well know our best security system is an informed and active community. If you live close by to the school and notice suspicious actively, particularly at night when the school is normally closed, please don't hesitate to call the police. Your response could make all the difference.
Thank you for helping us Achieve Excellence, Together.
