From the P&F
This week we received a thank-you note from Drama (see below) for the investment that the P&F made in helping them secure a new lighting rig to enhance the quality of their learning experience and shows they produce.
It’s great to see the investments that we make having an immediate benefit to the students.

Project Completion Report: Drama Room Lighting Upgrade
The Drama Room Lighting Upgrade has been a highly successful project and has already had a significant positive impact on student learning and engagement.
The newly purchased LED lighting system has proven to be both high-quality and user-friendly. Students were able to quickly learn how to operate the remote controls, experiment with different colour combinations, and adjust the positioning of the lights to effectively illuminate an entire performance space. This has allowed students to take an active role in the technical aspects of theatre production and develop confidence in using industry-relevant equipment.
The addition of theatrical lighting has transformed the drama room into a more authentic performance environment. Students have immediately recognised how lighting can influence mood, atmosphere, and audience perception. Through practical exploration, they are learning how colour, intensity, and placement of light can help communicate emotions, establish settings, and support storytelling.
As part of their drama studies, students are now able to engage more deeply with the Elements of Drama, particularly atmosphere, mood, tension, and focus. The lighting has provided valuable opportunities for students to experiment with creative choices and consider how technical theatre elements contribute to the overall impact of a performance.
The project has also increased student enthusiasm and engagement. The professional feel created by the lighting system has generated excitement and pride in the drama program, encouraging students to be more creative and collaborative in their work.
Overall, the lighting upgrade has successfully enhanced both the learning environment and the quality of student performances. The equipment is being used regularly and is already providing meaningful learning opportunities that were previously unavailable in the drama space. The project represents excellent value for money and will continue to benefit students for many years to come.

Second Pre-Kindergarten Class Added for 2027
Following an overwhelming response to our 2027 Pre-Kindergarten intake, we are delighted to announce that a second Djinda Pre-Kindy class has been added.
At Djinda Pre-Kindy, children are safe, known and cared for as they begin their learning journey through play, discovery and connection with the natural environment. Together, we nurture curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning, providing a strong foundation for future success.
We are pleased to offer more families the opportunity to become part of the Great Southern Grammar community as their child embarks on this exciting stage of learning.
Applications for the additional class remain open; however, places are limited.
If you know a family considering Pre-Kindergarten in 2027, please feel free to share this opportunity with them.

The Uniform Shop will be open in school holidays on:

Term Three opening hours will continue to be:
- Mondays 8.00am to 4.00pm
- Wednesdays 8.00am to 4.00pm
- Fridays 8.00am to 1.00pm
Holiday concert opportunity at the Albany Entertainment Centre
A world premiere of The Six Noongar Seasons, a work inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, will be presented in the Albany Entertainment Centre on Thursday 9 July at 7.00pm.
This will be a fantastic concert presented by the Australian Baroque Orchestra, performed in collaboration with the Albany Chamber Orchestra and led by violinist Helen Kruger. A unique, wonderful performance opportunity for string players and music lovers that I encourage students to attend.
