Term Two Takes Off: Playgrounds, Progress, and Professional Growth

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 3 of Term 2! Term 2 is often when everyone settles into a strong routine, and this focus and dedication is clearly shining through across the school. Our students are working hard to achieve their academic and social learning goals, and it’s been wonderful to see so much progress and enthusiasm in classrooms already. Well done to all our students and staff for their commitment to teaching and learning.
In the Junior School, students have been thoroughly enjoying the new playground. The swing and water play areas have proven to be firm favourites, and the unseasonably kind Melbourne weather has meant we’ve been able to make the most of the sunshine and refreshing autumn breeze. There have been lots of smiles and laughter during outdoor play – a lovely sight!
This week, our junior students also got creative in the kitchen, making fairy bread during their cooking sessions. I was lucky enough to be offered a sample and can confirm it was absolutely delicious – thank you to the students and staff in Junior Mason for including me!
A reminder that Monday, May 12 is a pupil-free day. All staff will be participating in a professional development day here onsite. The focus of the day is Team Teach, an approach we use at Naranga to support the development of a positive behaviour culture. Each year, over 100,000 people undertake Team Teach training globally, and more than 3,000 individuals have become accredited trainers. We are proud to have several certified trainers on our own staff, and every team member at Naranga completes this training annually.
Team Teach provides a comprehensive understanding of proactive and positive behaviour support. It equips our staff with strategies to de-escalate situations, build strong relationships, and minimise the need for physical interventions. This training is an essential part of our school’s approach to ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all.
Thank you once again to our dedicated staff, students, and families for your ongoing support. Here’s to a successful and productive Term 2!
