Our Growing School Community
It has been another exciting week at Balambalam as we continue to grow as a school community. Next week we are welcoming an additional Foundation class, Foundation F. It is wonderful to see our school continuing to grow and to be able to respond to increasing enrolments by creating additional classes and ensuring our students continue to have the best possible learning environment.
We are also keeping a very close eye on enrolment numbers across our Year 1 and 2 classes. As our numbers continue to grow, there may be some further changes to class structures in the coming weeks. If this becomes necessary, we will communicate directly with the families and classes involved and provide plenty of information and support.
Building Works – More Classrooms Coming!
As you are aware, each of our learning hubs currently includes four enclosed classrooms, with two open learning spaces at either end.
I am very pleased to share that, after working closely with the Department of Education, we have confirmation that from early September the builders will return to Balambalam to convert these open learning spaces into additional enclosed classrooms.
This is a fantastic outcome for our school and will provide us with the additional classroom spaces we need to cater for our rapidly growing enrolments and the new classes we expect to create in the coming weeks.
We will be doing everything we can to minimise disruption while the works are taking place. There will, however, need to be some temporary changes for 5/6A, Foundation C, Foundation F and 2B while the works are completed. Families in these classes will receive further information specifically about what this will look like.
There is also lots of excitement as work on our on-site Kinder is now well and truly underway. The Kinder building will be brought onto the site across Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd September. During these two days there will be additional trucks and traffic around the school, so please allow a little extra time for drop-off and pick-up as traffic may be busier than usual.
It will be wonderful to see the Kinder taking shape, with a projected completion date of mid-November, ready for the beginning of next year.
There is certainly a lot happening across our site, and while there may be some short-term disruption, these works are another exciting reflection of the growth of our community and the future of Balambalam.
Book Week Is Almost Here!
Next week is Book Week, which is always one of my favourite times of the school year!
We are looking forward to seeing our students celebrate books, characters and the joy of reading, and we would love to see lots of our families join us for our Book Week Parade on Wednesday 26 August.
We have also organised something very special for our students, Balambalam’s first whole-school incursion, with a theatre company coming to perform for the entire school on Monday 31st August.
This is another lovely milestone for our first year together. If you have not yet completed payment, consent and confirmation for your child to attend, please do so today. It would be wonderful to have every student participate in our first whole-school incursion and share this experience together.
