🙏 Prayer for the Smith Family 🙏

This week, we hold the Smith family in our deepest prayers following the tragic passing of Christopher Smith, father of Henry (Year 6) and Beatrix (Year 3). 

We ask our community to keep Simone, Henry, Beatrix, and their extended family close in thought as they navigate this heartbreaking time. May they feel surrounded by love, strength, and the quiet 

support of our St Anthony’s community.

Eternal rest grant unto him, 

O Lord, and let perpetual 

light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace.

Stage 3 Camp to Canberra 

I extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated teachers, Leanna Langlands, Peter O'Malley, and Hannah Carver for their invaluable support during our Camp to Canberra. Their enthusiasm, energy, care, and positivity ensured that our students were in the best possible hands throughout the camp. Thank you for making this experience memorable and enriching for everyone involved!

This trip provided our students with a rich learning experience, exploring significant historical, cultural, and scientific sites. Here are some highlights from our visit:

Australian War Memorial

Our students had the opportunity to learn about Australia’s military history and pay their respects to those who have served our country. The War Memorial offered a profound educational experience, helping students understand the sacrifices made by our armed forces. 

National Museum of Australia

At the National Museum, students explored Australia’s diverse history and culture through interactive exhibits and displays. This visit enhanced their understanding of our nation’s heritage and the stories that have shaped it. The students enjoyed learning about the Indigenous Australian's and how they live off the land. 

Parliament House

A visit to Parliament House provided students with a firsthand look at Australia’s political system. They learned about the roles and functions of our government and even had the chance to witness a live parliamentary session. Allegra Spender MP took the afternoon to talk to the children, and gave them time to ask questions about her and her role in parliament and the community.

Old Parliament House

Students stepped back in time at Old Parliament House, exploring the history of Australia’s political landscape. This visit offered insights into the evolution of our democracy and the significant events that have taken place within its walls. 

Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre

Questacon was a highlight of our trip, with its engaging and interactive science exhibits. Students participated in hands-on activities that made learning about science and technology fun and exciting. Some students took the giant slide as a challenge and were able to face their fears by letting go!

Father’s Day Celebration at St Anthony’s

We hope all our Dads, Grandads, Uncles, and father-figures had a wonderful Father’s Day! It was heartwarming to see so many of the significant men in our students’ lives join us at school on Friday 5 September for a joyful morning of celebration.

Our Father’s Day event included a delicious BBQ breakfast, a fun chicken dance challenge, and a beautiful prayer liturgy led by Year 4. It was a special way to honour the love, strength, and guidance these men bring to our families and community.

A heartfelt thank you to Sean Sheridan for organising the BBQ breakfast—your efforts helped make the morning extra memorable! 

A special thanks to the parents and friends who organised an outstanding breakfast. 

🇮🇪 Farewell to Mr Peter O’Malley

We farewell Mr Peter O’Malley as he prepares to return to Ireland and begin a new chapter. Peter has brought so much joy and energy to St Anthony’s over the past two years — from his quick humour and love of a good joke, to riding his bike to school each morning, and even his habit of leaving cupboard doors open. Most of all, Peter has been a happy, kind, and deeply caring teacher who has made a genuine difference in our community. His warmth with students, his generosity with colleagues, and his positive spirit will be greatly missed. We wish him every blessing as he heads home, and we hope he carries a little piece of St Anthony’s with him wherever he goes.

🌟 Newman School for                  2027

We are delighted to share that St Anthony’s Clovelly is becoming a Newman School in 2027. This is a wonderful recognition of our strong commitment to high‑quality Catholic education and the vibrant learning culture within our community. Newman Schools offer an enriched and extended curriculum for high‑potential learners, grounded in faith, inquiry, and deep thinking. We will continue to work closely with Sydney Catholic Schools Gifted Education Team to prepare for this exciting transition, ensuring our students continue to flourish academically, spiritually, and personally. We look forward to keeping our families updated as we move through the Newman accreditation process and begin this new chapter for our school.

🤝 Parents & Friends Association 

We are inviting parents and carers who would like to support our St Anthony’s community to consider joining our Parents & Friends Association (P&F). Several roles are now open, including President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Social Committee Organisers.

The P&F works closely with the principal and school staff to strengthen our community, support families, and enhance the learning environment for our students. If you are looking for a meaningful way to contribute, these roles offer a wonderful opportunity.

What the P&F does:

• Building Community — Organising welcome evenings, class catch‑ups, family fun days, and other events that help families feel connected and supported.
• Fundraising — Running stalls, trivia nights, working bees, and other initiatives that help fund additional school resources, playground equipment, and facility improvements.
• Parent Representation — Providing a voice for parents and offering valuable family perspectives to the principal and school leadership.
• Volunteer Support — Coordinating volunteers for canteen, sports carnivals, excursions, and classroom activities.

These roles are open to anyone who would like to assist, contribute ideas, and help our school continue to thrive. Your involvement—big or small—makes a genuine difference.

Uniforms / Hats / Water Bottles

Thank you to those parents who ensure their children are dressed in their complete and proper school uniform each day. A reminder that children must have their hat and a water bottle each day.

Summer Uniform

The official changeover into summer uniform is after the holidays at the beginning of Term 4, however given that we have had some warm weather, we will have a transition period from this term where summer or winter uniform may be worn. Please note, however, that either full summer or full winter must be worn - not a combination of both. Thank you for your cooperation.
