As the end of the 2023 school year draws near I would like to congratulate all Year 9 students for their success this year. It has been a pleasure working alongside each student and their families, watching them grow into young adults.  From the Year 9 Team we wish you a happy and safe Christmas, New Year and Summer holiday.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

We will continue to acknowledge and reward students for their positive behaviours and will no doubt flood your phones with Kurnai Positive Acknowledgements (KPAs). On that note, it has been fantastic to see students settle back into the Kurnai Learning Community and being acknowledged with KPAs for their positive behaviours in the classroom.

End of Semester Reports

Semester 2 Reports will be released in the coming weeks. I encourage you to sit down with your child and review their progress and continue to set goals to help them achieve their own academic success.

Work Experience in 2024

Year 10 in 2023 for these student means getting out into the working world with 2 weeks of work experience. This opportunity is so valuable as a learning opportunity and many students have already begun preparations and made enquiries. It is extremely important that all students take the time to explore possible work opportunities that they have a genuine interest in.  This experience often informs the future decisions they make for themselves and helps students to build more purpose into their learning. Purpose increases resilience and determination to succeed and that in turn increases the quality and value of learning outcomes. Any student or parent that wants more information should contact the school and message or talk with Alan in careers. Take control of your future by taking an active role in your personal development.

Human Powered Vehicles

Over the weekend of the 25th of November, students took their racing trikes to the Human Powered Vehicle Energy Breakthrough Event in Maryborough. Students participated in a 3-phase assessment where they were tested on their skills & knowledge as well as racing their trikes against 100 other teams.

This is a tremendous effort from all three teams! For the second time in 3 years Kurnai College has been awarded the Design and Construction Award. This is a credit to the huge effort that all the students and staff have put in to preparing for the race. Several additional hours outside of school hours were put in by HPV Coordinator Mr Ross Johnson and the students to get the vehicles ready.
