Principal's Message
From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 5
Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,
Behaviour Focus
Our behaviour focus for Week 5 is Respectful:
We are learning to:
Follow teacher's instructions
We are successful when:
do it the first time you are asked
look at the teacher when they are speaking
whole body listening - hands in lap, legs crossed, no talking during learning time
hand up when you need to ask a question
Turn Up Awards
The "Turn Up" award was introduced last year to encourage our students to attend school every day. Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher. A voucher will be issued each week to each class. If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries. If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Week 4:
K/1B - Violet
2/3O - Indy
4/5/6T - Lillian F
Reading Awards
Congratulations to Harry & Latrell on achieving 25 nights of reading, Arabella & Maddison for 50 nights of reading and Arabella also achieved 75 nights of reading. Keep up the great work.

Attendance Matters
Congratulations to the 25 students who are part of our 100% Club. These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 2.

We have 43 Students in total attending 90% or above. Keep up the good work as attendance matters. Did you know if you miss 1 day per fortnight this equals 4 weeks per year and a total of 1 year missed over their schooling life.

Cold & Flu Season/Illness
With the weather changing and coming into the cooler months, cold and flu symptoms and other contagious illnesses start to appear due to more time indoors. In the interest of keeping our school community well we ask if your child is displaying cold, flu or other symptoms of illness, please ensure they are kept home and monitored and return once symptoms have subsided. Symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea must be kept at home and can return to school 48 hours after the last episode. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Small Schools Sports Day
WCPS will be hosting the Small Schools Sports Day tomorrow, Wednesday, 20th May. We will welcome students in Years 2-6 from Blackville, Premer, Spring Ridge and Walhallow for a series of sporting activities, games and dance. K/1 will follow a different program and will also be hosting some students from the above schools. Lunch consisting of a Sausage Sizzle, Popcorn, Drink and a piece of fruit will be provided tomorrow for a cost of $10. Please ensure your child is dressed in full sports uniform with hat and appropriate footwear for the day.
School Photos
School Photos will be held next Tuesday, 26th May (Week 6). Photo envelopes must be returned to the school office by this Thursday, 22nd May. Sibling envelopes are available from the school office on request. All students are to be dressed in full school sports uniform for the day.
Parent/Carer Survey
The Parent/Carer Survey is now open and will be available through to Friday, 29th May. This survey is for Parents of students in Yrs 3-6. The survey gives you the opportunity to share your experience at our school, including communication, inclusion, wellbeing and how your child's learning is supported. The link to have your say is:
https://surveyme.education.nsw.gov.au/sc/7bBF-dPJwf7Au4phlKIxxA2
Hearing directly from our parents and carers will help us understand what's working well and where improvements can be made. Participation in the survey is optional, your responses are anonymous, and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
P&C Meeting
The WCPS P&C will be holding their next general meeting on Monday, 25th May at 5:30pm in the Engine Room at the Werris Creek Sports Club. We encourage all members of the school community to attend.
Kind regards
Kathy Nott
