Waste Wise Incursion
Over the last 2 weeks the grade 1 students have been so lucky to have Jess and Alannah from Banyule Council come to IPS to teach us all about being 'waste wise'. We learned about which bin to use for what type of rubbish – ask your child to help you sort the rubbish at home, we think you will be impressed! The grade 1s learned so much from this incursion:
“I learned which rubbish to put in which bin” Leo 1L
“They told us how rubbish gets to the creek and then in the sea” Ollie 1L
“I liked the game when we put the rubbish in the right bin” Alfie 1L
“My group saw a dice stuck in a drain near After Care and we are sad that it might end up in the creek then the ocean” Tara 1L
“We counted up how much rubbish we found in the playground and we found 101 pieces!!!!” Evelyn 1L
Year 1 Worm Writing
The year 1 students who have been learning all about waste and sustainability came to visit me today with some wonderful writing all about worm farms.
I learnt a lot about worm wee!
Sustainability
Continuing with the sustainability theme, Monique from year 2 came to read me her story all about a flood. It was very entertaining and she later made a whole school announcement about why it is important not to litter, following up with a reminder to students to pick up their rubbish!
Wellbeing Wednesday Lunch Club
This week the Student Voice & Wellbeing Ambassadors led an activity where students created 'Gratefulness Flowers' to show what they're grateful for.
