National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is held each year from 27 May to 3 June and provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, while reflecting on how we can contribute to reconciliation in our everyday lives.
The dates of NRW commemorate two significant milestones in Australia's reconciliation journey: the 1967 Referendum on 27 May and the Mabo Decision on 3 June, which recognised the land rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year's theme, All In, encourages all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day. It reminds us that reconciliation is not something we simply observe—it requires active participation, understanding and meaningful action from everyone. The theme challenges us to consider how we can each play a role in building stronger relationships, greater respect and more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Throughout the week, students participated in a range of learning experiences that explored the importance of reconciliation and deepened their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures. Students also learned about National Sorry Day, reflecting on the experiences of the Stolen Generations and the importance of acknowledging this part of Australia's history. Several classes created thoughtful displays for both National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week, showcasing their learning, reflections and commitment to this year's theme, All In. These displays can be seen around the school and highlight the meaningful conversations and learning that took place throughout the week.
