Pope Francis

As a school we mourn the loss of our beloved Pope Francis. In acknowledgement of the tireless work he did for the Catholic Church and the Christian Community, we will be

creating a garden in his memory.

This will be a Garden of Hope, linked to the Jubilee Year and his call out to us all to be Pilgrims of Hope. Pope Francis said "Day by day, let us fill our lives with the gift of hope that God gives us, and through us, let us allow it to reach everyone who is looking for it. Don’t forget — hope never disappoints.” The sunflower represents hope and so this garden will be a garden of sunflowers as we remember Pope Francis and his lasting legacy.

Catholic Education Week is fast approaching. It will begin with a Mass on Wednesday 21 May which our Year 6 leaders have been invited to attend on behalf of St Agatha's school. In light of this celebration, Andrew Chinn will kick off Catholic Education Week for our school with an incursion on Tuesday 20 May. Andrew has visited more than 1200 Catholic primary schools, performing in 4000 concerts across Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada sharing his music and his faith with schools. Every year level will have the opportunity to work with Andrew. Further details will be shared closer to the event.

As we enter into Term Two our sacramental program shifts to a focus on First Communion. If your child is in Years 4-6 and has received the sacrament of Reconciliation, then they are eligible to undertake their First Communion. The celebration of

First Holy Communion is another step in the process of initiation into the Christian community and a major step in our students' faith journey as they receive the Body of Christ through the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time.

As we deliver the sacramental program to our school community, we are continuously looking to improve the program. This can only be done through feedback from families. A survey is being conducted, and we would welcome as many families as possible to share with us their experience and ideas that will enable us to make changes that improve the delivery of this program.
