News of the Week
Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to our Term 3 - Week 4 newsletter! It's been another exciting week, with plenty of special events and celebrations happening across our school. This week, we will be celebrating Principals' Day (tomorrow!), our Athletics Day, and our Year 6 students celebrated the special occasion of their Confirmation.
Happy Principal's Day
We all know Mrs Sullivan, and tomorrow we are celebrating Principal's Day! We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Mrs Sullivan for everything she does to make our school a safe, happy, and welcoming place.
Mrs Sullivan is an amazing Principal who always puts a smile on everyone’s face. Thank you for making everyone feel welcome and for always caring about our school community.
Mrs Sullivan will be at a conference on Friday, but when you see her on Monday, make sure you say “Happy Principal’s Day!” and let her know how much we appreciate her!
What do you like about our principal, Mrs Sullivan?
Benny (FE) - I like that she is funny and kind.
Benton (1C) - I like her because she is kind and how she always helps us and she doesn't care if we come last or first.
Ava (3/4H) - She's nice, she lets kids have fun, and she is really funny.
Elodie (5/6D) -Mrs Sullivan is a kind and helpful person, and she is always looking out for the younger students and is an amazing role model to everyone.
Confirmation
On Saturday, August 1st, our Year 6 students celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. Everyone dressed up in their fancy dresses and suits to mark this very special occasion.
During Confirmation, we received the gifts of the Holy Spirit: Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, Counsel, Fortitude, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. It was a wonderful celebration where we came together with our families and school community to strengthen our faith.
Athletics Day
Despite the cold weather and rain, the Year 3-6 students participated in track events at Dolamore Mentone Athletics Centre. Everyone competed in the 800, 200 and 100 metre sprint, also joining in on 100 metre hurdles with great sportsmanship and determination. Due to the rain, we were unable to do the field events, such as long and triple jump, shotput and discus, so we will continue them at school.
We hope you enjoy the photo carousel. A BIG thank you to Elias who took some amazing photos for us and to Mordialloc College for sending 20 of their Year 10 students to help us. Thanks also to Molly who came along and provided First Aid.
Prayer Service -Mary McKillop and Assumption of Mary
Our Prayer Service will be held on Monday 10th of August at 9:00 am in the St Brigid's Hall. All families are warmly welcome to attend. The Prayer service is about Mary MacKillop & Assumption of Mary. We hope to see you there.
St Brigid's Book Fair
Just a reminder that our annual Book Fair is starts on Monday. Remember to bring your money if you would like to purchase a new book. Glenn has kindly offered to use the library for the Book Fair this year. It will take place on Monday and finish on Thursday 13th August. The Book Fair will be open from 8:15am to 8:45am in the morning and 3:15pm to 3:45pm in the afternoon.
Foundation to Year 4 - Winter Christmas Disco
The Foundation to Year 4 Winter Christmas Disco is being held on Friday 21 August at 5:30pm. The students are very excited as this is one of our favourite events of the year. This year the theme is 'Winter Christmas Disco' and you can come along dressed for Christmassy Fun! Tickets are on sale now via the CDFpay App. Don't forget to bring your named drink bottle - disco dancing is thirsty work!
School Closure Day - MONDAY 17 AUGUST
Families don't forget Monday 17 August is a school closure day. TheirCare will be open and you can make your booking now.
Thank you so much for reading this week's newsletter. We look forward to the exciting week ahead with the Book Fair, finishing off the field events for Athletics day and having a prayer service about Mary Mackillop and the Assumption of Mary.
