Year 12 Graduation Mass

Tuesday night was a wonderful occasion celebrated by Frs David and Hien. The Church was full as we joined in prayer to recognise the Class of 2026 who were engaged actively in the liturgy. Wearing their yellow stoles, as a visual sign of their academic achievement, and carrying candles, they headed from the Church into the world beyond.

Fr David’s homily was relevant and gave a great message. He started off with the thought that Graduation is one of those unusual moments in life… we look backwards, remembering where we have come from… and at the same time, we look forward to a future which is, suddenly very close. And indeed, this is exactly where Year 12 will find themselves this week. Reflecting on their time at St Pius X, some of these graduates have spent half their lives behind these walls - learning, growing and achieving great things. He went on to say the deepest hope of a Catholic education is that through all we have experienced, we have become not simply more knowledgeable, but more human: attentive to others, more capable of compassion, more sensitive to injustice, more willing to listen, and more able to recognize the dignity of another person, especially the person whose life is very different from our own.

My hope for the graduates, and indeed our whole community, is that we can all pause and remember to become more attentive, compassionate and willing to listen. To be people who are aware of injustice and human dignity and do something to correct the imbalances we observe. This would allow us all to truly flourish as people of God’s one family.

Year 10 Edmund Rice Hours and Immersion Week

Year 10 students are reminded to continue working towards the completion of their 20 Edmund Rice Hours as we approach the Immersion Week of Term 4. These hours are accumulated doing works of service in the local community, many activities are available through the school and Homeroom teachers, or the Mission team can sign these off.

Parents are also reminded to discuss the immersion option with your son as this is a compulsory week of activities for all students. Please contact me at the College if you have any questions or concerns at this time. The link to the Microsoft Form which needs to be completed is here: Year 10 Immersion and Service Week  – Fill out form

Wishing all students and families a happy and safe break. We look forward to seeing you next Term!
