Principal's Report

Term 2, Week 5

Dear St FX Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 5, StFX families. How is it that we’re already at the middle week of the school term?!!

2024 Pupil-Free Days

Each year, schools are required to provide a specific number of days towards staff development. Where possible, these days are at the start or end of school terms, but occasionally they fall mid-term. In these situations, we try to align them with dates that will best accommodate most families e.g. following Public Holidays, before/after weekends, etc. As you would have read last week, we have a Pupil-Free Day coming up following the June Long Weekend (Tuesday 11th June). Following this correspondence, I was made aware of this date being left off the Term Calendar which impacts on families being able to make the necessary care arrangements in a timely fashion. I apologise for this oversight.

So that you are aware of our remaining 2024 Pupil-Free Dates, and to be able to make plans in advance, please see below:

  • Tues 11th June (Tuesday Week 7, Term 2)
  • Mon 22nd July (Monday Week 1, Term 3)
  • Fri 27 Sept (Friday Week 10, Term 3)
  • Mon 14th Oct (Monday Week 1, Term 4)
  • Tues 15th Oct (Tuesday Week 1, Term 4) To be confirmed

Eisteddfod Success

I would like to acknowledge and extend my congratulations to all the StFX students and staff who have been involved in the 2024 Narrabri Eisteddfod so far. Last week, I had the pleasure of watching our StFX Band play in numerous sections, as well as listening to Year 1 perform a rendition of the Lion King hit ‘I just Can’t Wait to Be King!’. After very strong performances,StFX walked away with a swag of trophies across those two days!

Good luck to our students performing this week. We look forward to sharing more news of their success with you!

First Holy Communion

Please keep in your prayers, the candidates who will be celebrating their First Holy Communion at Mass this Sunday. Fr Sabu is excited to be leading Sunday’s Mass, which will start at 9am instead of the usual Sunday morning start time. We congratulate these students and ask God for his blessings as they make a very special commitment as part of their faith journey!

Kind regards,

Mal Frend
