Principal's Report
"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra." – Jimmy Johnson
This sentiment resonates deeply with our ethos here at Beaumaris, where we strive to instil in our students the values of diligence, readiness, and the courage that are “that little extra” leading to success. It is with great pride that I share with you the remarkable achievements and ongoing success stories within our Beaumaris family.
We've witnessed this difference in action with the recent accomplishments of Kiara Mooney, Emerson Leffler, and Daisy Caink, who have secured scholarships at the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS). Their dedication, determination and talent have taken them to new heights of competition, reflecting the high calibre of athletes we nurture at Beaumaris. You can read more about their journey on our website.
Building upon this spirit of achievement, Autumn T and Katie G have been selected as Monash Scholars for the next two years, securing two spots out of only 30 students in the state for the Open category. Katie and Autumn speak with confidence as they share their informed and knowledgeable insight across a range of topics. They are the voice of the next generation. Their selection adds to the string of successes we've seen recently, reflecting the calibre of talent and dedication nurtured within our school community.
Kiara's outstanding achievement in qualifying for the Australian Swimming Olympic Trials further underscores the power of preparation and the “little extra”. As she prepares to compete in Brisbane from 10 - 15 June, let's rally behind her, embodying the spirit of support and unity that defines our community.
Similarly, our Senior Softball team's sixth consecutive year dominating at the state level demonstrates a consistency of dedication and preparation invested by both players and coaches. This is about the team building their skills together for a win. An excellent embodiment of our strong team culture.
Moreover, the enthusiasm displayed by our students in engaging with various opportunities, whether it be through academic endeavours such as afterschool workshops and tutoring sessions, co-curricular activities or community initiatives, is evidence of a true community. Each act of participation and involvement is a step towards becoming extraordinary.
Our recent Ensemble Soiree showcased the extraordinary talents of our Instrumental Music Program students, highlighting their dedication and hard work. The event was entertaining and an insight into the outstanding talent being nurtured at the college. These performances reflect our commitment to developing creativity and expression.
Coming together beyond the school is “the little extra” that makes our school a community. The Karkarook Parkrun saw families, students, staff and a few furry friends come together to support a healthy lifestyle, strengthening our sense of community and togetherness. Events like these not only promote physical wellbeing but also foster bonds that connect us.
Our VCE Business Management students visited Prana Chai, a local business. This provided invaluable real-world insights into entrepreneurship and business practices. We extend our sincere gratitude to founder Koray for his generosity in facilitating this enriching experience and providing each student with a bag of Prana Chai.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge the preparation and commitment of our Year 10 and 11 students who embarked on exams this week. Their study will lead to excellent results.
As we reflect on these achievements and look ahead to the future, let's remain unwavering in our commitment to “the little extra” that comes our way. By embodying the principles of diligence, resilience, and perseverance, we will undoubtedly continue to soar to greater heights of success.
Thank you to our students, staff and families for the community we are creating together.
