Principal's Report

Dear Families,

We suddenly find ourselves at the end of another school year. Before we know it, 2026 will be upon us! Our Prep to year 5 students had a successful step-up day on Tuesday, meeting their new teachers and classmates and finding out where their classroom is. It is both a daunting and exciting experience moving from one year to the next, but our students handled it beautifully. As I wandered around the school I could see lots of smiles and laughter. I heard both students and teachers sharing information about themselves to start building those vital classroom relationships.

As our Prep to 5 students enjoyed their step-up day, our year 6 students were off at transition to their secondary schools. From all reports I have heard, the day was a success and many new friendships have already started forming. Good luck to all of our year 6s on the next chapter of their schooling lives. We also congratulate them on their upcoming graduation from primary school. Their graduation ceremony is being held on Tuesday evening in the gym and we are looking forward to a lovely night of celebration and farewell.

We will also be farewelling some staff as they move to new schools or onto new adventures. Goodbye Jacqui Padusinski, Lauren Allison, Brianna DeRycke, Shauna Watkinson and Abby Wilcox. Thank you for the service you have all provided to the students of CGPS.

We also congratulate Rylee Bouyer and Jessie Bredin on the upcoming arrivals of their first babies and wish them all the very best as they start their maternity leave from the beginning of 2026.

Congratulations to all of the year 5 students who nominated and delivered speeches for the role of 2026 school captain or vice captain. It was not an easy decision and we know that all of you will be excellent leaders and role models to your peers and junior students in your final year of school. Our current school leaders congratulated their successors at last week's school assembly.

Congratulations to Akaisha Wijesundara, Paarth Katwal, Eva Ngawaka and Sharav Mithun who will take on the roles of Captains and Vice Captains in 2026.

Our year 3 students are currently enjoying themselves at Camp Adanac undertaking all kinds of exciting activities. I will be popping up to visit them later today to hear all about their adventures. You can see photos from the year 6 camp from the end of last term on the senior school page in this newsletter.

I look forward to celebrating the end of year with you all at our concert next Thursday evening after our last day of term.

I have noted all the 2026 school term dates and curriculum days on the News and Important Dates page.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and please take care and be safe over the holiday period.
