CAMP THEMES!

Wow,  I think we are at the end of week six and now that school concert is a distant memory and the unofficial long weekend has passed we are on the final straight to the end of the year.  With the weather improving it is a timely reminder to promote sunscreen and hats.  Middle school has had an intensive program promoting this theme.

As I write this, it seems camps are the main theme.  We have a senior outdoor camp return yesterday.  They have been involved in many outdoor activities that most of the students would be trying for the first time.  Two other camps are on the horizon in the same week, same location, however at a different venue.  The last week of November Pathways and upper juniors are traveling to Phillip Island.  The students are currently workshopping expectations and the planned program.

As mentioned in last weeks newsletter our senior and pathway students had two beach days this week.  The students took part on Monday and Wednesday in the surf life safety program at the Carrum surf life saving club.  The conditions could not be more different.  Monday was warm and calm, where the students cruised through the experience.  Wednesday on the other hand was overcast and the bay was a little more choppy.  The experience was vastly different, highlighting the variation we should all prepare for when participating in water activities.

Yesterday we had a scheduled visit from the police, the final piece of the theme 'community helpers' as part of PLC2's program that has been running from last term.  The students always enjoy such visits and gives opportunities for class discussion.
