Class Structure and teachers for 2027

Content warning: the following paragraph contains excessive use of the word ‘announcement’

In my previous news, I wrote that I was hoping to share our school structure for 2027 this week. There were government announcements following this, the first being that the Government would fully fund Victorian Government Schools, whilst also announcing cuts to disability supports in Victorian schools. Following this, yet another announcement was made stating that revisions to aspects of the disability support decision were actioned.

As you can imagine, this significantly impacts our ability to complete both our workforce planning and budget planning as originally predicted, with resourcing to schools being finalised later than expected in response to the announcements.

It is still my intention to share our class structure and teachers for 2027 as soon as all the required information is provided. I will send this out as a separate Compass News feed to ensure the information isn’t overlooked in a newsletter.

Prep Transition

On Wednesday, we held our second Prep 2027 transition session. The children completed activities, including a ‘What do we bring to school?’ mix-and-match cut-and-paste. Our Performing Arts teacher, Ms Jedrys, took our students for their first Performing Arts session. It has been great to see our future Preps experiencing a variety of indoor and outdoor activities and becoming more familiar with our school. It won’t be long before they are officially students at ENPS!

Prep 2027 Information Session

Next Monday, November 9th, at 3:45 pm, we will hold our Prep 2027 Information Session for parents in the staffroom. This will be an opportunity for parents to hear additional information for students starting school next year.

Reminder about applying sunscreen

This term is a no-hat-no-play term. All students are required to have a hat for outside time. Students who don’t have a hat will be directed to stay in our designated shade areas. We also ask that all children apply 50+ sunscreen at home before coming to school so they are fully protected during recess. Every classroom contains Woolworths-brand or similar sunscreen, and children are strongly encouraged to reapply it before heading outside for the lunchtime break. Please practice this at home with your children to ensure they can do it competently themselves, as staff are not permitted to apply sunscreen to children as part of our child-safe practices.

Working with children Check

As part of our child-safe practices at ENPS, if you are helping out in the classroom or on an excursion, our school requires that you have a current Working With Children Volunteers Check. Whilst this is not required in some other settings, we require this to keep our students safe. If you are planning on volunteering and don’t have a WWCC yet. You can apply for one here: https://service.vic.gov.au/services/working-with-children/home
