Hello Haven Families,
We have made it to the end of Term 1 2026 and hope that the start to your year has been a positive, healthy and successful one.
The start of the year can be a little tricky for all children (and families) no matter the age with new rooms, new peers, starting care for the first time or trying to find a new rhythm and routine.
We thank all families for your patience, trust and open communication as we support individual needs and work to create a safe, secure and engaging environment at Haven. Watching children grow in confidence in our setting, including their relationships with educators and peers is such a rewarding part of our jobs, with it equally amazing to see how much growth, learning and development takes place at each age. We know so much more is coming in 2026 and look forward to continuing to provide quality care and education for our whole Haven community.

Enrolment Updates

Have any of your enrolment details changed/ updated? This might include address, doctor details, parent contacts and emergency contacts. Please use linked Microsoft for to update or directly log into XAP. A friendly reminder for families to email through child immunisation records.
Extra Days
Did you know Haven offer's extra days/ casual bookings? These days are charged at your usual gap fee and can be requested in advance or even the morning of. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need additional childcare we are here to help.
Alternatively, do you work a rotating roster and would like to discuss a fortnightly booking? Please send us an email and we will see how we can support :)
Staff Personal Achievements
A big congratulations to Ellie and Brad who had a surprise wedding on the 3/2/26 becoming Mr and Mrs Moore!
Another congratulations to Maggie who successfully completed her Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care in Feb, we are very proud!

Haven Service Reminders
Centre Updates- Floors and Paint
Did you know that Haven turns 10 years old this year? (well the building itself) after being renovated from previous Rowville CFA. We are always looking at ways to continue to improve Haven and also give back to families by updating our environments. This year we are lucky enough for the goal of updating our floors (in rooms) and painting to be completed.
River and Sun room floors have been completed with the new timber look vinyl planks completely changing the feel and look of our environments. Some feedback has included being more homely, new, warm, clean and modern.
Field room will be completed this weekend 11/4 with the Forest room done by 25/4.
The service walls, skirts and frames and then all getting painted (refreshed) over the next two weekends. With quite a few marks/ drawing/ dints in the walls we are looking forward to seeing some fresh walls and brighten up the spaces ready to showcase our educational programs and light filled spaces once again.
Family Survey

Each year Evolve (our approved provider) runs an anonymous family voice survey. This survey will be sent via email and SMS to all families enrolled at Haven Early Learning.

We greatly appreciate all feedback given with the more families completing, the more we can identify areas for growth, action and response. Alongside this, open feedback helps in celebrating what we do well and further recognising great employees.

Child Safety and Wellbeing
Body Safety and Consent Webinar
Maroondah City council is offering a free online webinar for families based on body safety. This webinar is designed to equip you with the confidence, knowledge and practical tools needed to introduce body safety and consent education to children in an age-appropriate and meaningful way. For parents and carers of children 1 to 10 years old.

Kids Roar - Professional Development
In 2026, Kids Roar will be hosted an online professional development session for Haven Families. This session will be live and interactive to support families in asking questions with Haven educators also completing a similar professional development course. This information session provides an overview of the KidsROAR program content and how continuous reinforcement of the Protective Behaviours Themes can reduce children's vulnerability to abuse.

National Child Safety Training
From 27 February 2026, major national child safety reforms now mandate new child safety and protection training for all early childhood education and care (ECEC) staff, volunteers, and students. These reforms strengthen vetting with mandatory, updated Working with Children Checks, while also introducing a national worker register, and establish stricter reporting obligations for providers.
Please be assured that under our National Law, Regulations and Service practices, policies and procedures that Haven has completed the workforce register with all staff members undertaking training across April. This also includes all students and volunteers we have come into the service.
A reminder for families and visitors- Any visitors to Haven including families, students, event coordinators and contractors are not permitted to photograph/ video any children. This includes service events in which we also ask families to please not use your digital devices in our care rooms. If you are needing to make a phone call/ message/ be on your phone you are welcome to remain in reception.
