Christ is Risen! Alleluia!

It has been almost a week since Lent transitioned into Easter. We celebrate the triumph of Jesus and the part we play in his resurrection. Therefore, we continuously sing, "Alleluia."

Easter celebrates the concept of new beginnings. We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and the rebirth of our parishioners through baptism and confirmation during the Easter Vigil. We find joy in the spiritual nourishment we receive from God when we partake in the Eucharist during Easter.

During Easter, the triumph of light over darkness is celebrated. In the Easter Vigil, the paschal candle is ignited from the Easter fire and brought into the dimly lit church. The priest chants "The light of Christ" and the congregation replies, "Thanks be to God." This fresh paschal light will illuminate the fifty days of Easter. It symbolises the resurrected Jesus, the "Light of the world," whose radiance continues to shine for all faithful followers.

Easter encompasses more than just a single day; it extends into a season lasting fifty days, culminating in Pentecost. The celebration of Easter lasts even longer than the preparation period of Lent. Throughout this season, we are continuously reminded of the close presence of the risen Jesus in our lives.

Prayer

On this holy day, and in this season of renewal,

we pray in thanksgiving for the many blessings You give us.

May our words and deeds today, and always,

serve as reminders of the transformative power of Your love.

Amen.

Lord, thank You for this Easter celebration and all the gifts you give us.
