Amazing Alexandra Adventure resort camp
In the first week of term 4 from Wednesday to Friday, the 5/6s went to Alexandra Adventure Resort for camp! The bus ride was around 2 hours - which was the longest bus ride we’ve had. When we got there the camp instructor gave us a tour around the grounds, showing us the activities along the way. Then we had our packed lunches and got straight into the activities.
Some of our favourite activities include high ropes, raft building and the flying fox. During high ropes we had to balance and pass obstacles which as you may have guessed, were very high up in the sky! In raft building most of the students that tested their raft fell off it, someone had to tie the raft back together underwater and another person fell in the lake face first! Finally the flying fox, now this wasn’t just any flying fox, this one went over the huge lake located in the grounds of the camp.
After a few activities and an afternoon tea break, it was time for dinner. We enjoyed bolognese pasta with garlic bread and an optional side of salad. For dessert we had chocolate mousse. After that everyone got ready in their dark clothes for the famous tradition of the 5/6 Four Corners game, invented by previous 5/6 teachers. You have to be stealthy and quiet to find hiders in the dark.
On the 2nd day, we woke up to the lovely sound of very, very loud rock music. We did more activities, ate some good meals and had a fun disco at night. The disco had some good songs, glow sticks and very funny dance battles. After a quick chat in our cabins we drifted off to sleep, ready for the next day at Healesville Sanctuary.
We cleaned our cabins and set off to Healesville Sanctuary. We walked around and had a look at the animals, then watched the fascinating bird show. The bus ride home was quiet and some people fell asleep. Overall our time on camp was one of the best we’ve been on and we thank the camp staff, teachers and parents who supported us and helped it run smoothly.

Celebrating Student Achievements
We are always proud to celebrate the achievements of our Oakleigh Primary School students, both at school and in the wider community.
Congratulations, Ryan Lee! Ryan recently travelled to Canberra to compete in the National Taekwondo Competition in the Under 34kg category. Ryan performed exceptionally well, finishing 2nd in Australia in his division. What an incredible achievement, Ryan!
Congratulations, Melisa Kose! Melisa has had a fantastic basketball season, helping her team - Waverley Wild Cats - win the Under 11 Grand Final. Melisa was also awarded the Referee’s Medal for Most Valuable Player and received her team’s Best Team Player Award. A wonderful recognition of her skill, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Division Athletics Congratulations!
The first week of Term 4 saw 18 students from Oakleigh Primary School compete at the Monash Waverley Division Track and Field Championships at Bill Sewart Athletics Track. Students from Years 4–6 competed against students from more than 60 schools across the local area.
Our students represented Oakleigh with great pride.
A special mention goes to Kin Sakultantimetha (Year 6), who finished second in the 1500m, and Aisling Downes (Year 5), who finished first in the 100m. Both students will go on to compete at the Eastern Region Track and Field Championships this Thursday.
Well done to our Softball Team!
The Mixed Softball team competed in the Monash Waverley Division finals at the Waverley Softball Association last Tuesday. After winning the district competition in Term 1, the team had waited all year for the opportunity to test their skills at division level.
Expertly coached by Michael (Year 5/6 teacher), the boys put on a great performance. They won their first two games before narrowly losing their third. The team finished second in their pool and qualified for the playoff game for third place. They played a great match, eventually defeating Mount View Primary School to finish third overall. A fantastic effort!
Both events were fantastically supported by parents. Without their support and willingness to transport students to and from these events, our students would not be able to participate in such strong numbers. Thank you to all the parents who helped make these opportunities possible.
Art Show
Congratulations to our students who created such amazing artistic messages in the recent "Spotlighting Bullying...Hand in Hand exhibition held at The Track Gallery in Mount Waverley. If you missed the exhibition this year, we will be exhibiting again next year.
Here are some examples of the wonderful artwork that our students had on display:
