Dear Families,
As we journey through the second week of Lent, students have been learning about the practices of praying, fasting, and almsgiving and how these help us grow closer to God and care for others. We have also begun our Caritas fundraising, learning about how our actions can support people in need around the world. Students have taken time to pray and reflect on ways they can show kindness, generosity, and compassion during this Lenten season.

Our Learning this week:
Religious Education:
This week in Religious Education, students explored how Jesus respected the dignity of others and helped people in times of need. They read and discussed Scripture texts and learned about the social and religious context of Jesus’ life to better understand his actions and teachings.
English
This week in English, students focused on reading and writing skills using our class novel Kensuke’s Kingdom. They practised reading fluently with accuracy and expression, responded to questions about the text, and developed their understanding of key vocabulary. Students also worked on writing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to strengthen their writing.
Mathematics
This week in Mathematics, students worked on creating equivalent addition number sentences. They used subtraction to find unknown values in equations and practised choosing the most efficient strategy to solve problems.
Integrated Studies
This week in Integrated Studies, students learned that Australia is made up of states, territories, and Aboriginal Countries. They identified Australia’s states and territories and discussed the importance of recognising Aboriginal Countries across Australia. Students also explored how people change places through the ways they use them and explained how people’s actions can affect what places are like.
Social Emotional Learning
This week in Social and Emotional Learning, students explored how emotions can affect our bodies and behaviour. They practised naming different emotions in a range of situations and discussed how body language can provide clues about how someone is feeling. Students learned to explain what body language is and describe how our bodies can show a variety of emotions.
Auslan
This week in Auslan, students learned to use their fingers to represent other things, such as legs, people moving, or people standing near each other. They practised showing these ideas with their hands and signs to communicate meaning more clearly.

Congratulations to our award winners for this week.

Important Reminders:
We kindly ask families to return all swimming program forms as soon as possible to assist with planning and organisation.
