Year 3

Spotlight on Learning

Ephesus Community

Religious Education: The Grade 3s have been deepening their understanding of Lent, particularly the importance of almsgiving — sharing their time, talents, and treasure to make a positive difference in the lives of others. They have been exploring the Parable of the Good Samaritan and reflecting on the important message Jesus shared about compassion and loving our neighbour.

English: We have continued to read the Narrative story 'Matilda' by Roald Dahl.

This week, we learned that Matilda discovers she has a unique power — a form of energy that builds up within her and flashes from her eyes.

The students have been drafting their narrative writing pieces based on their planning notes and are now close to completing their final drafts.

Mathematics: We are now focusing on addition and subtraction strategies to strengthen our understanding of number concepts. We have started looking at Numberless Word Problems.

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL): Grade 3's are learning that their feelings can be positive or negative depending on what happens around them. They have been looking into ways that they can help make our classroom and playtime happier and more positive for everyone.

Integrated Learning: The Grade 3's are learning about the importance of the different environments within Australia. Exploring the Daintree rainforest, science experiments and Desert regions including the vegetation and animals.
