Year 6 

Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families & Friends,

We are now halfway through the term, and it has been wonderful to see students continuing to grow in confidence and curiosity. As part of our learning, they have been sharing what they already know about Holy Week, making connections to important events, symbols and people, and asking thoughtful questions about what they would like to learn next. We look forward to a strong and productive second half of the term.

English – 

In Reading, we are continuing our class novel Rivet Boy, focusing on reading fluently, understanding new vocabulary, and answering questions using evidence from the text. In Writing, students are revising the structure of persuasive texts and working on planning and writing strong concluding paragraphs.

Mathematics – Order of Operations

Students are learning to find combinations of numerical expressions that have equal value. This involves exploring different ways numbers can be represented and developing flexible thinking when solving equations.

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)

In SEL we are exploring mixed emotions and what they might look like in everyday situations. Students are discussing how it is possible to feel more than one emotion at a time and practising strategies to recognise and manage these feelings.

Important Reminders

• Return permission forms for the swimming lessons in week 6 and 7 and Kingswim.

• Please make sure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name using a black marker to help prevent items from being misplaced.
