Principal's Report

Term 3, Week 9

Dear St FX Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 9, which will be the last newsletter edition for Term 3. I can’t believe I’m writing about it being the end of the term already; it feels like it was just a few weeks ago that we were welcoming everyone back from holidays! As you look back on the term, I hope it has been as settled and smooth as possible, and that you continue to enjoy that calmness as we approach the next school holiday period.

Farewell - Holly Greenaway

At the end of this week, we farewell our long-serving colleague and friend, Holly Greenaway. Holly is finishing up at St Francis Xavier’s to pursue a career with Catholic Education Wilcannia-Forbes in the role of Education Officer: Curriculum and Pedagogy. Holly has worked at St Francis Xavier’s Narrabri since 2010 and has held the roles of classroom teacher and most recently, Leader of Pedagogy. In her time as Leader of Pedagogy, Holly has worked with the St Francis Xavier’s Leadership Team to shape the strategic vision of the school, working as an instructional leader to help drive continuous improvement of our school’s teaching and learning cycle. We thank Holly for her years of dedication to St Francis Xavier’s and wish her every success as she embarks on this new phase of her career.

P&F Movie Night

Last Friday, our P&F committee hosted a Movie Night under the St FX COLA. Despite rain earlier in the week, they couldn’t have asked for a better evening to run the event. The COLA was packed with families who came to enjoy the popular family movie, ‘Sing 2’. I’m not sure of exact numbers, but the COLA was nearly at capacity and there weren’t many chicken nuggets or sausage sandwiches leftover afterwards! Thank you to all the families who supported the event, as well as the P&F committee and volunteers who organised and ran this positive community spectacle.

Dance Extravaganza

The countdown is on for the St FX Dance Extravaganza. Today we commenced our full-day rehearsals at the Crossing Theatre to polish the acts, all based on the theme ‘Movies’, to ensure we’re ready for the performance on Wednesday 25th September.  Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. This is one event you won’t want to miss!

Uniform

Just a reminder that due to the warmer weather now, students are required to be wearing their summer uniform. As we still experience some cooler temperatures this term, students are welcome to wear a jumper with their summer uniform, as required.

Pupil-Free Day Reminder

Please make sure you’ve added into your calendar the final Pupil-Free Days for 2025 - the last day of Term 3 (Friday 27th September) and then the first two days of Term 4 (Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th October).

Holiday Message

Wishing you all a safe and restful break for the upcoming school holiday period, especially those who will be travelling to either visit family and/or friends, or just as part of your holiday. We look forward to seeing you all back at school on Wednesday 16th October!

Kind regards,
