Year 5-6 Most Excellent Adventure!

What a fantastic four days that most of our Year 5-6 students had at Coffs Harbour last week. Even though the weather at times wasn't favourable to some of the activities that we were involved with, our time was full of several highlights. The students thoroughly enjoyed being airborne on the zipline, freefalling over twelve metres down the vertical drop, rolling down a steep incline in a Zorb Ball, getting downright dirty on the commando course as well as testing their patience and their ability to cope with pressure attempting to complete the various set challenges in the Minute to Win It workshop.

Several other students were fascinated with a story a fisherman told us about how he lost his eye fighting with a 300kg swordfish!  We saw various kinds of plants at the Botanical Gardens as well as dolphins and seals performing a wide range of tricks at the Dolphin Conservation Marine Park. There was ice cream and sushi to be had at the Park Beach Shopping Centre and we explored the wildlife (including leeches) at the Dorrigo National Park. Emily demonstrated she was a great bowerbird protecting her eggs from predators with the disadvantage of wearing goggles that inhibited her sight. She admitted later, that she could still see out of the goggles.

This is just the tip of the iceberg on what we did and I know the students will have a lot of great memories of what went on, including some terrible renditions of several songs.

Again thank you to all of the students who made our time away a great one and I was very proud to accompany you all. Also thank you to Mrs Davey who had a lot of sacrifices to ensure that she could join us. Finally, thank you to all of the parents who made the big commitment to ensuring that their child was packed and ready to go on Tuesday morning It is very much appreciated.

Below are some more photos from our time at Coffs Harbour.

We are delighted to welcome Isaac to our Year 1-2 classroom. Isaac joined us earlier this week from Walcha Central School, and we are all excited to have him and his parents Ashlee and Glenn as part of the St Patrick's family.

We hope that Isaac's time here at St Patrick's will be enjoyable, rewarding, and fulfilling, as we look forward to watching him grow and thrive as a member of our learning community.

End of Year Presentations

It is not long before we will be formally acknowledging the student's achievements for this academic year. Although our End of Year Presentation Night was a great event last year, it simply took too long! This year is also our allocated year where all of the classes are involved with a whole school performance. The play has been selected, roles have been allocated and all of our students have begun practising their acting and dancing moves for our performance of 'The Dragon Returns' which will be on Wednesday 29th November, commencing at 6.00 pm at the Walcha Multipurpose Centre.

It has been decided we will not be having our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony, classroom and perpetual awards on the same night. So Thursday 7th December, we will be having our annual Schools Presentation Night under the school COLA, followed by a barbecue, where all members of our school community are invited to join us.

Year 3-4 Excursion to Thalgarrah

The Year 3-4 students will be participating in an overnight excursion to Thalgarrah Environment Education Centre on the 23rd and 24th of November. Mrs Makeham and myself will be supervising the students on this excursion. Information was sent home to all families recently via Compass.

Transition Graduation Ceremony Next Friday 10th November!

It only seemed like yesterday when our fifteen transition students consisting of Harry K, Alfie, Anna, Amelia, Harrison, Millie, Stirling, Eden, Alice, Evelyn, Wallace, Harry M, Heidi, Eve and Jake commenced our transition program. I know that all of the children have had a great time over the last three months and I can definitely tell all of them are ready for Kindergarten next year. Thank you to Mrs Hoy, Mrs Rizzi and Mrs Healey who have lead these sessions at various times during the program. To celebrate our Transition's achievements we will be holding a Graduation Ceremony as part of our school assembly next Friday 10th November commencing at 2.20pm. Everyone is invited to join us.
