I hope our students, staff and families had a wonderful school holiday period and are ready for another great term of learning. Please make sure you stay informed of upcoming events and activities via Compass. Any cohort or whole-school communications for the day will be sent at 3:00pm, ensuring you have consistent and reliable access to all events, activities and information about our school. Thanks to our wonderful office and administration team who lead our school in this area and ensure consistency and reliability in how we connect with you.

Earlier today our Drum Corps and student leaders led us through a touching ANZAC Day acknowledgment. Led by Mr. Sandy Hood, our Drum Corps performed with great pride, and we wish them all the best for their performances at the Shrine of Remembrance tomorrow. Our student leaders acknowledged the ANZACs with great sensitivity and empathy, and this was reflected by the respectful audience. We were proud to invite our neighbours and local community to join us at this wonderful annual event.

We have a series of wonderful events on the calendar this term, with great opportunities for our students and families to come together, get to know each other better and celebrate what is great at our school and in our community. These include a cyber safety community talk by Susan McLean on Wednesday 6th May, our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast and Lunch on Friday 8th May, the 2027 Prep Information Night on Tuesday 12th May, ‘Cakes for a Cause’ on Friday 29th May and our annual Kids’ School Disco on Saturday 20th June.

We are incredibly fortunate to have an active and engaged Parents’ Association and School Council to support events such as these and I thank everyone who has volunteered to help out.

Last week I was able to walk through our construction site and observe the progress of the building project. At this stage, the perimeter has been set, most of the groundings in place and we are moving towards preparing for the base to be laid. I look forward to this and the framing beginning, as the enormity of this project involves right in front of our eyes!

You may have seen or heard in the media further planned industrial action from the Australian Education Union (AEU). This includes proposed rolling half-day strike action across the state, which will impact schools in this area on Thursday 21st May. There is also a planned ban on written comments in student reports. We will provide more detailed information as it comes to hand.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.

Rohan.
