Volleyball 1sts Scratch Match Against Southern Cross State League Team
With the PSA competition on pause for the bye week, the 1st VI volleyball team seized a remarkable opportunity: a scratch match against the newly formed Southern Cross State League Team. The invitation, generously extended by the Southern Cross coach, offered our players a high‑level experience against a team that now calls the TC Sports Centre its training home.
The day began with a morning of friendly competition for players across all ages and divisions. Mixed teams were formed from students throughout the TC volleyball program, who then competed in a round-robin style warm-up tournament. The atmosphere was lively and inclusive as teams rotated through short scratch matches against each other, as well as a TC coaches and a Southern Cross team that featured several TC Old Boys. This created a great sense of connection across the program and set a positive tone for the day.
Following this, the 1sts boys had an unforgettable morning on court. Lining up against some of Western Australia’s top volleyballers, they found themselves facing not only formidable State League athletes but also two familiar faces: Volley Roo and TC Old Boy Nick Butler, and our very own 2025 TC Vice Captain, Jacob Allison. Competing shoulder‑to‑shoulder with such talent provided both a challenge and an inspiration.
The opening two sets were gruelling but rewarding. Despite the considerable height and experience advantage of the Southern Cross lineup, the Trinity 1sts fought with determination, pushing each set into double‑figure scores and showcasing impressive composure under pressure (and a fair amount of humour to get through too!)
After two intense sets, the suggestion of a mixed‑teams final set brought smiles all around. The boys relished the chance to join forces with the very players they had just battled, and enjoy a lighter, more developmental finish to the match. The mixed set was filled with laughter, smart playmaking, and a unique chance for our players to learn directly from seasoned athletes in real time.
Overall, the experience was invaluable, both as a learning opportunity and as a celebration of the strong volleyball program growing within our community. We extend our thanks to the Southern Cross coaches and players for their generosity and partnership, and we look forward to continued collaboration as their State League journey begins.

We have updated the way sporting information is shared with families. Sports fixtures and training times are now available through the Trinity College mobile app and Clipboard.
Parents who have not yet installed the Trinity College app are strongly encouraged to do so, as it is the primary way to stay up to date with current sporting events. A setup guide for the app can be found here. All sporting information is found behind Sport Notices button on the app.
Once the app is set up, sporting activities can also be viewed via Clipboard. This can be accessed through SEQTA by selecting the tile labelled “Clipboard”. To sign in, click “Sign in with SSO” under Guardian and use the same credentials as the app.
Please remember to regularly check your son's sporting information. Team changes can occasionally happen on the morning of the sporting activity.
If you experience any issues accessing the app or Clipboard, please contact the Trinity College Help Desk at tchelpdesk@trinity.wa.edu.au./
TCRC Fund-A-Breakfast
The TC Rowing Club (TCRC) is one of the College’s largest and most active ‘friends of’ groups, which supports numerous aspects of the rowing program. This includes the provision of breakfast items for rowers after training.
Understanding that time is precious, and it can sometimes be difficult to commit to volunteering for breakfast-provision services, the TCRC has developed another way to contribute… the ‘Fund-A-Breakfast’ program!
Funds raised will go towards the provision of breakfast for the rowers, which can include (but is not limited to) items such as oats, cereals, muffins, bacon and eggs, and other delicious goods.
Families are welcome to contribute as much or as little as they like, and as often as they like. All funds gratefully accepted.
$80 – Breakfast for a crew (9x persons)
$250 – Breakfast for a year level
$750 – Breakfast for the club
Other donation amount (starting from $50) – ‘make a breakfast’
