History of the Olympic Games
This fortnight in History, Upper Juniors & Seniors began by looking at the Olympic flag, learned about the significance of the rings, & why the rings are blue, black, red, yellow & green on the white background.
We discussed things that occurred in the Ancient Olympics and compared them with what is happening in the Modern Olympic Games. We watched a YouTube clip: The Ancient Greek Olympics (776 BC-393 AD) so that we could learn more about the Ancient Olympics. We didn't know pregnant women were not allowed to watch!
Lower Junior students enjoyed talking about the 2024 Olympics in Paris. We also looked at the Olympic flag and its significance & had fun colouring flags in.
We looked at different events Australia will compete in & talked about how we would feel if we came 1st & won a medal.
Our Humanites team will continue with the Olympic theme for another 3 weeks, so please talk to your student about the 2024 Paris Olympics, Australian athletes, different sports in the Olympics & the Ancient Greek Olympics.
