Principal's Message

Respect, Responsibility and Teamwork.

Always Being Your Best.

Hello Families,

I can’t believe we are already in Week 4! It has been another busy and exciting time at school, with many prospective Foundation families visiting Kangaroo Flat Primary School for tours. I was incredibly proud as I walked around the school supporting these tours and seeing our students engaged in their learning. A special thank you to our School Captains, Isabella, Charlie, Mason and Elahe, for the wonderful job they did assisting with the tours and representing our school so positively.

Last week we held our very successful Mother’s Day Stall and Pancake Breakfast. It was lovely to see so many mothers, grandmothers, and special people join us for breakfast and celebrations. A big thank you to the parents who helped organise and run both the breakfast and stall, and congratulations to the winners of our beautiful Mother’s Day hampers. Thank you also to all families for your generous donations towards the raffle and stall. Your support helped make this a wonderful fundraiser for our school community.

Our Cross-Country event was also a great success, with students enthusiastically participating, challenging themselves, and having fun. Thank you to Miss Ainslee for her fantastic organisation of the event, and to the parents and carers who attended to cheer on our runners, joggers, and walkers throughout the day.

Next Friday, 22nd May, students selected to represent our school at the Division Cross Country event will attend this exciting opportunity. Families of participating students will be notified via Sentral.

Next Wednesday, 20th May, we warmly invite all grandparents and special people to visit classrooms from 8:50am–10:30am, followed by a morning tea in the gym to enjoy with their grandchildren.

On Wednesday evening from 5:30pm–6:30pm, we will also be holding an information session for prospective Foundation 2027 families. If you know families in our area with children starting school next year, we would appreciate you sharing this information with them.

This week we have enjoyed a successful Book Fair alongside our Education Week celebrations. Thank you to all families who supported the Book Fair — students were certainly excited about their purchases! Funds raised will help purchase new resources and materials for our students. Thank you to Miss Novak and Miss Creighton for organising this event.

I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our wonderful Education Support Staff as we celebrate ES Appreciation Day this week. The care, professionalism, and dedication they show our students every day is deeply valued and appreciated by our entire school community.

Over the next three weeks, our Grade 4–6 students will participate in the Attitudes to School Survey during class time. Thank you to Miss Serjeant and Miss Anketell for coordinating this important process.

As the weather becomes colder, a reminder that Breakfast Club is available each morning, with school gates opening at 8:30am for students wishing to have breakfast before the school day begins.

I would also like to inform families that School Council approved the following pupil-free days for this term:

• Tuesda 26th May – Teacher Professional Practice Day focusing on assessment, reporting, and planning.

• Friday 5th June – Professional Learning Day focusing on School-Wide Positive Behaviours and Positive Classroom Management Strategies aligned to the Department’s Victorian Teaching and Learning Model.2.0

We are excited to be hosting the Family Fun Day in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo on Sunday, 24th May from 12:00pm–3:00pm at Kangaroo Flat Primary School.

There will be a range of exciting hands-on activities, performances, and lunch options for the whole family to enjoy. We would love to see our school community here for a fun afternoon.

Finally, a reminder that our school newsletter will now be distributed every two weeks.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school community.

Warm regards,

Melissa Cusack
