The Feast of the Ascension celebrates Jesus returning to heaven 40 days after Easter to sit at God's right side, marking the end of his earthly ministry.

He promised to send the Holy Spirit, meaning he is still with us everywhere, not just in one place. It is a time of joy, not sadness, celebrating Jesus as our king.
During Jesus’ Ascension, He was with His disciples on the Mount of Olives. He blessed them and asked them to spread the good news of His resurrection throughout the world. Suddenly, a cloud appeared, and Jesus was taken up to Heaven. The disciples watched as He disappeared into the clouds.
The Ascension of Jesus means that we have hope for our future. Jesus’ ascension assures us of our eternal life with Him in Heaven. It also means that Jesus is still with us, even though we cannot see Him physically. He is present in our lives, guiding and protecting us. The Ascension reminds us to spread the good news of Jesus’ resurrection to others, just as the disciples were instructed to do.

While at the recent Year Five/Six camp, students and staff shared Grace before meals. Saying, or praying, Grace is a tradition common to many faiths. Grace is a prayer of thanks said before or after meals to recognise God’s generosity and to show appreciation for the food we receive and the people who prepare it. Taking time to pray Grace also encourages gratitude, reflection and mindfulness in our daily lives.
On 8th May, we celebrated the first year anniversary of Pope Leo XIV’s papacy. In the previous 12 months, Pope Leo has made a big impact within the Church and the wider world community. The following link appeared in the current online Melbourne Catholic. https://melbournecatholic.org/news/12-quotes-from-pope-leos-first-year-as-pope
We pray the Holy Spirit continues to guide Pope Leo as he leads the Catholic Church.

That everyone might have food
Let us pray that everyone, from large producers to small consumers,
be committed to avoid wasting food,
and to ensure that everyone has access to quality food.
Amen
