Principal's Message
From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 3, Week 2
Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,
Term 3 is off to a great start with all students settled and ready to learn.
Behaviour Focus
This week we are again focusing on being Ready:
We are learning to:
Be ready to learn and ready to succeed!
We know we are successful when:
listening to the teacher, whole body listening
have equipment ready
positive attitude
respectful behaviour
put your hand up to speak
be patient
Turn Up Awards
The "Turn Up" award was introduced last year to encourage our students to attend school every day. Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher. A voucher will be issued each week to each class. If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries. If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Term 3, Week 1:
2/3O - Raegan
4/5/6T - Maddison

Home Reading
Congratulations to Raegan for achieving 125 nights of home reading. Home reading is encouraged at Werris Creek Public School. Just 10 minutes per night can make a difference. To encourage our students to read at home, we offer some great incentives. See the image below with our incentive program. If you would like some tips on encouraging your child to read, please see their classroom teacher.

Blackville Spelling Bee
The Annual Blackville Spelling Bee will take place at Blackville Public School next Tuesday, 4th August (Week 3). Those students who have been selected to attend must have permission to our office by today to be registered to participate. Lunch is available for $10 - $15. Orders for lunch must also be submitted today. As we have a select number of students attending, parent/carer transport needs to be arranged.
Boot Camp
This week we have commenced Boot Camp with Mr Wilcox running a half hour session between 8:30am and 9:00am each day. The children will participate in a range of activities to get them ready for the school day. So far, we have had a positive response with many children attending.

Attendance Matters
Congratulations to the 44 students who are part of our 100% Club. These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 3. Although we are only one week into Term 3 it is a great start.

We have 44 Students in total attending 90% or above. Keep up the good work as attendance matters.
If your child is to be absent from school for any reason, please ensure you contact the school office to advise or reply to the SMS message that is sent on the day of absence. It is important that we notify the department the reason your child is not attending school.
Education Week Open Day
Education Week will be held from Monday, 3rd August to Friday, 7th August (Week 3). We will be holding an Open Day Friday, 7th August at Werris Creek Public School and focusing on this year's theme "Inspiring Excellence". Please look to the Important Information & Events tab in the Newsletter to see our program for the day. We will also conclude the day with an Education Week Assembly where we will award students with Education Week Awards, be entertained by all students with an item from each class and also present our Athletics Champions with their medallions and shields. All are welcome to attend, and we look forward to opening our school and celebrating with our families and community all things Public Education.
Kind regards
Kathy Nott
