Student Representative Council

We have achieved a lot this year.

After the election, we had our first SRC meeting on May the 16th. 

It was a fun-filled day. 

We had team building activities and we also worked out what our vision was as a team. 

We went through the child safety document and talked about the agenda for the meetings. We also established protocols for our meetings.

We made a suggestion box for the classrooms where children could put suggestions for our school to make it a better place. The suggestion box is not only for suggestions and ideas it is also for students that don't feel comfortable talking to a teacher, they can write it down and put it inside the suggestion box and then we take the suggestion box to a meeting and talk about what people have said, and how we can include it in our school.

At an assembly we were announced as our school's SRC and received badges.

We began to have class meetings.

 Our first action to make our school better was getting more sporting equipment which we successfully completed in the first few weeks. 

This year we split our play toys into 2 piles. 

Pile 1 has got toys for people that play in the sandpit so they have their own toys such as to diggers and tractors and they are labeled. 

Pile 2 has oval toys all the people that like to play houses around the oval they have their own rakes, shovels, buckets and play equipment, they are clearly labelled. 

We then started to discuss a chicken coop but ran into problems so we put that idea aside. We tried to get a class pet and it was very hard to achieve but we tried hard and was very close to getting a turtle but it was unrealistic pet. Who would have thought that you need a licence for one?

Then we introduced the 5/6 representatives as representatives for the 1/2 classes. 

We had our first 1/2 class meeting and had lots of interesting ideas. 

One of the ideas the 1/2 's had was to get a cubby house for children to play in.

We started researching cubby houses to decide which one was best. After a lot of research, we decided to ask Keith, our maintenance person, to build our cubby house so we could get the right sizes and exactly how the 1/2’s wanted it. 

We had a meeting with Keith and asked him to quote the design we had decided on. 

The 1/2’s voted on the best location and chose to put it near the garden club/cordial factory. Hopefully this will be done in 2024!

We also went to the Euroa Secondary College to see the mural painted by Aimee McCartney and the students and that inspired us to ask Aimee to help us design and create our own mural. 

It was decided that the mural would replace the beloved mural on the back of the Mercy centre facing Binney street but we will take photos of the old mural for history and we will frame the photos to display with pride.

It has been a pleasure being on the SRC for our school this year and we hope we have made a difference for everyone. 

At the end of our 2023 SRC year, we were treated to a lovely hot chocolate at Fare Enough by our caring SRC Leader, Ms Hall.  

A big thank to Ms Hall and everything she has done for us.

We are very grateful for being a part of the SRC.
