Student Voice

Tim Clifton | Learning Specialist - Student Agency

At Sandringham College, we believe that students thrive when they feel heard, valued, and empowered to shape their own learning and environment. That’s why student voice and agency remain central to everything we do, from the classroom to leadership forums and co-curricular initiatives.

Student voice goes beyond participation, it’s about students having the confidence and opportunity to express ideas, influence decision-making, and take ownership of their learning. This term, we’ve seen student agency in action across a range of settings:

  • Our Student Leadership Team has played a key role in shaping school events, including Harmony Day, House events and upcoming events in term 2.
  • In classrooms, students are increasingly involved in goal setting, peer feedback, and unit design, helping them engage more deeply with their learning.
  • Through student forums, surveys, and student-led initiatives, our students are having a real impact on school improvement, from wellbeing priorities to sustainability projects.

These opportunities don’t just benefit the school, they develop key life skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and self-motivation. We’re proud of the ways our students are stepping up as leaders, change-makers, and active contributors to our college culture.

Looking ahead, we are excited to expand our student voice opportunities even further — strengthening our commitment to a learning environment where every student feels empowered to shape their journey.
