Navigating Social Media and Online Safety

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students, I would like to take this opportunity to discuss the important topic of kindness and its impact on our school community, as well as the influence of social media on our students’ well-being.
At Sandringham College, we strive to create a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel supported and valued. One of the cornerstones of this is fostering kindness — not just within the school grounds but also in the digital spaces where our students engage. As you are likely aware, social media offers both positive and negative experiences for young people. While it can serve as a tool for communication and connection, it can also contribute to misunderstandings and emotional challenges that spill over into the school environment.
We want to emphasise that our primary goal is to collaborate with you in ensuring your child’s well-being and success, both online and at school. We understand that managing online activity and screen time can be difficult for families, and we are here to support you in navigating these challenges.
To assist you, we have included some resources that may be helpful:
These resources provide valuable tips and strategies for fostering healthy online habits, and we encourage you to explore them with your child.

Together, we can help our students succeed in all aspects of their school life — academically, socially, and emotionally.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation. If you have any questions or would like to discuss any of these matters further, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to support your child and work with you to help them navigate these challenges safely and positively.
We look forward to partnering with you in helping your child thrive, both online and at school.
