We need your help at our biggest Working Bee of the year at Bluff Road Campus on Sunday, April 27th, starting at 9am, as we get our school looking its best for Annual Open Night on April 30th!
We’re calling on all champions of gardening, cleaning, painting, tidying, and general sprucing-up to lend a hand. Got a wheelbarrow? Bring it along, it’s time to put those DIY skills (or at least your ability to hold a broom) to good use!
Your support will make a huge difference, and to keep you fuelled, we’ll have a few treats on hand. Think coffee, snacks, and maybe even a mystery baked good (no promises on artistic presentation).
Join us for a morning of hard work, good laughs, and a chance to make the campus shine!
The Child Safe Standards are at the core of how we operate at Sandringham College.
At the start of the new school year, all staff received training in the Child Safe Standards. We conduct this training each year to ensure that we are up to date with any adjustments to the standards and to ensure that we are cognisant of our obligations regarding the safety of students in our school.
The Child Safe Standards
The Standards are compulsory minimum standards for all Victorian schools, to ensure they are well prepared to protect children from abuse. Ministerial Order 870 — Child Safe Standards — Managing the risk of child abuse in schools outlines how the Standards apply in schools.
The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is responsible for ensuring school compliance with the Standards. Schools are required to comply with the standards for registration.
There are 11 standards - please click on the links for further information:
Standard 1: Culturally safe environments
Standard 2: Leadership, governance and culture
Standard 3: Child and student empowerment
Standard 4: Family engagement
Standard 5: Diversity and equity
Standard 6: Suitable staff and volunteers
Standard 7: Child focused complaints process
Standard 8: Child safety knowledge, skills and awareness
Standard 9: Physical and online environments
Standard 10: Review of child safety practices
Standard 11: Implementation of child safety practices
Schools must take account of and make reasonable efforts to accommodate the diversity of all children in implementing the Child Safe Standards, including (but not limited to) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disabilities, and children who are vulnerable.
Sandringham College Child Safe Policies are found on the College website.
It is timely to remind members of our community (parents/carers, contractors and volunteers) of our Visitors Policy.
Between the hours of 8.00am and 4.30pm and in line with our Child Safe standards, we require all visitors to report to the Campus Administration Office on arrival and sign in at our Compass Kiosks, where you acknowledge our Child Safe Code of Conduct and agree to abide by these guidelines during your visit. Any visitors to the school engaged in Child related work will be required to have a valid Working with Children Card.
Updated signage has recently been installed at both campuses directing visitors to the Administration Offices.
All visitors will be required to wear a Visitor badge when on the school grounds and should sign out at the end of their visit. Where necessary, visitors will be accompanied by a staff member for the duration of their visit and must be prepared to follow all instructions from school staff.
Sandringham College is not a public space. The College or Campus Principal has the authority to permit or deny entry to school grounds.
