This term, our Soccer Academy focused on developing four core skills, laying a strong foundation for all players while helping us identify individual strengths and areas for improvement within the group. We are incredibly impressed with the effort each player has put into their training, with 100% commitment across the board!
Looking ahead to next term, we’ll shift our focus toward more game-play situations. Players will begin to learn about specific roles and responsibilities during matches. To support their progress, we will also group players based on skill level, allowing for more targeted training and faster development within the program.
On Monday, 17th March, Sandringham hosted Parkdale SC for a morning of friendly matches. It was fantastic to see all our students putting their first-term training into action, showcasing the skills they’ve worked hard to develop.
We’re looking forward to facing Parkdale SC again later in the year on their home ground, as well as playing a few matches against Mordialloc College.
The Basketball Academy has had a fantastic start to Term 1, with noticeable improvement and teamwork developing among the players. It’s been great to see their hard work paying off!
Congratulations to Harry Bright, Will Cunningham, Elliott Meaney, Jake Dibble, Drew Skinner, Liam Dunlop, Toby Wong, and Kai Birrell for representing the Sandringham Basketball Academy at the 3x3 Basketball Tournament held at Frankston Basketball Stadium on Thursday, 27th March.
Athlete Development has seen amazing progress from all athletes throughout Term 1. With a strong focus on refining running technique and improving major lift techniques, the students have worked hard to enhance their performance.
Their dedication and commitment are evident, and we’re excited to see how they continue to grow and push their limits over the next three terms. We’re confident that the foundation they've built will lead to even greater achievements as the year progresses.
The Year 7-9 Sports Academy students recently completed two exciting excursions to Foundry Athletic. It was an invaluable experience for them to have access to world-class equipment and learn from elite-level medical practitioners and high-performance managers. These sessions provided hands-on learning and insights into the demands of professional sports training.
In addition, the Year 9 students participated in an engaging discussion on the differences in nutrition marketing for males and females, helping to debunk common myths and misconceptions. This critical thinking around health and nutrition is a vital part of their overall development as athletes.
