Khipro Teacher Support Program School Profile
St Monica’s College is proud to be a supporter of the Presentation Sisters of Pakistan through the establishment of the Khipro teacher support program, established in 2016. The Presentation community of Khipro in Sindh is supported with funds raised to support the payment of teacher salaries to assist with the recruitment and retention of teachers who teach across 13 village schools.
One school in this community is the St Mary’s Urdu primary school, located in in Sindh. It is a three room school constructed of concrete walls, straw and hay on an earthen floor.
It has three teachers and 71 students. It is located in an outlying village near Khipro, in a place called Baro Water. It is serves the children of both Hindu and Muslim faiths and is situated on the land of a local landlord who has allowed this school to remain on his land for the last 20 years.
The teachers name are Mr Domenic, Mr Nasir and Mr Mulchan. The images that accompany this piece were taken in November 2024.
