House Update:

Hello to our fantastic Marist-Sion Warragul school community. Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Head of House Sion. My name is Emily Burrows, and I come to Marist-Sion College with 20 years teaching experience. I have worked in a variety of roles across both primary and secondary schools and have a lot of leadership experience, as well as a passion for student wellbeing. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at this wonderful school so far and look forward to meeting and getting to know many more of you over the next few months.

While I am new to this school and position, I have been fortunate to have already been involved in some wonderful school activities. The Heritage Day, which included the Talent Show and Carnival has been a highlight so far. It was so rewarding to see members of our house bravely participate in the Talent Show, getting up on stage to share their abilities with others. During the Carnival, Sion House was responsible for three of the activities. We sold almost 400 donuts in the 8 House Colours (purple sold out first – go Sion!) We also had Giant Yard Games, which was a free activity and lots of fun for all those who participated. Our third activity was the Jaffa Smasher. This took hand eye coordination and skill to be able to smash the Jaffa as it shot out of the tube, to win a chocolate prize! This was popular with all age groups.

Coming up in September is our House Celebration Day, where Sion students will attend a Sion Celebration Liturgy in the morning and then get together afterwards to spend time as a house and celebrate further.

Thank you to all the amazing Sion students and parents that I have already been fortunate enough to get to know. Sion House has a fantastic group of students and staff, and we represent the college values of ‘be respectful’, ‘be responsible’ and ‘be safe’ consistently. Together I am sure we will all have a fantastic end to Term 3 and a wonderful Term 4!
