Child Safety Week and Upcoming School Initiatives
As we head into another exciting term, we want to highlight some important events and initiatives that foster a positive and supportive environment for our students.
Last week, we are proudly marked Child Safety Week, an important reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure that every student feels safe, respected, and valued. We’ve incorporated various classroom discussions and activities to raise awareness about child safety, helping our students understand how to protect themselves and others. We encourage parents to engage in these conversations at home as well, reinforcing the importance of personal safety in our everyday lives.
During Child Safety Week, the Year 11 and 12 students engaged in a presentation regarding Safe Partying from Sonia Karass from Whole New World Educational Seminars. Sonia addressed topics such as drink driving and how to stop a friend from doing it, underage fines and laws, assessing for intoxication before getting into a car, getting home safely and many more. More about Sonia’s presentation can be found on her website here, along with some great tips for parents to assist with these conversations at home.
Our Breakfast Club was held on Tuesday and provided students with a healthy and nutritious start to the day. The Breakfast Club is led by a team of dedicated student volunteers, including Samuel Grummich, Logan Joyce, and Levi Moore, who are giving back to the school community through their service. It's a wonderful opportunity for students to connect before the school day begins while enjoying a warm meal.
This week also coincided with RUOK? Day, a national initiative that promotes mental health awareness and encourages everyone to check in on one another. During our House Time, students engaged in activities to support how their friends through conversations and accessing mental health support.
At lunchtime, our Wellbeing and Counselling Team provided a BBQ and a mini expo to help promote the conversation around Mental Health and accessing support.
The School Captain Leadership Process has officially commenced! Candidates have begun delivering their speeches to fellow students, sharing their vision for leading the student body. We are extremely proud of the confidence, thoughtfulness, and maturity displayed by our candidates. This leadership selection process not only develops their public speaking skills but also instils a strong sense of responsibility and community service.
Finally, with Term 4 fast approaching, can I please give a reminder to students and parents regarding the uniform requirements for term 4. When worn well, our College uniform instils a sense of pride and connection within our College community. The College uniform requirements are clearly listed on our website here and also outlined for the students in their student planners on pages 121-127.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
