It was another big week in sport for our MSA Alumni. Here is how they went.

AFL

Carlton beat Richmond by 5 points. Jordan Boyd for the Blues had 13 Disposals, 4 marks and 3 tackles.

Essendon defeated Hawthorn by 24 points. Masimo D'Ambrosio played his first game for Hawthorn after being traded by the Bombers last year. Masimo had 29 disposals, 4 marks and 2 tackles. Peter Wright kicked 2 goals and had 8 disposals for the Bombers also.

The GWS Giants defeated North Melbourne by 39 points. Paul Curtis for the Kangaroos had 9 disposals and 3 marks kicking 2 goals 1.

Melbourne defeated the Western Bulldogs by 49 points at the MCG. Buku Khamis had 8 disposals, 2 marks and a tackle, meanwhile Rhylee West had 12 disposals, 6 marks and 3 tackles also for the Bulldogs.

The Gold Coast Suns defeated Adelaide by 6 points. Touk Miller leading the way with 29 disposals, 2 marks and 9 tackles.

Port Adelaide defeated the West Coast Eagles by 50 points. Zak Butters had a strong start to the for the Power with 27 disposals, 8 marks, 2 tackles and a goal while also posting 327 metres gained.

Fremantle defeated Brisbane by 23 points, Cam Rayner had 14 disposals, 3 marks and 5 tackles for Brisbane while Luke Ryan had 33 disposals, 10 marks and 1 tackle for the Dockers.

Congratulations to former students Dylan Landt and Jake Toa who played for the St Mary’s football team in Darwin on the weekend. St Mary’s won the NTFL Grand Final against Southern Districts by 29 points winning their 33rd NTFL premiership.

Football

Connor Metcalfe played for FC St Pauli in their win over Numberg 2-0. FC St Pauli remain on top of the Bundesliga 2 table by 5 points as they continue to look to be a promoted of the topflight Bundesliga competition next season.

MelindaJ Barbieri started for Newcastle in the A-league Women’s competition against Western United. Newcastle winning the game 3-1 with MelindaJ playing a strong role in defence.

Annabel Martin started for the Central Coast Mariners in their 4-1 victory over Canberra

Seb Pasquali and Matt Grimaldi played for Western United in their 2 all draw against Melbourne Victory

Cycling

Lucas Plapp finished 6th overall in the Paris to Nice race 2 weeks ago. Luke help the yellow jersey for a period of time during the race as the overall leader but fished the final stage 10th and a total of 3 minutes and 8 seconds off the winner Matteo Jorgenson.

Cricket

Kieran Elliott made 2 and 12 with the bat while taking 1/65 and 2/14 with the ball in Tasmania’s loss to South Australia. Tasmania now play Western Australia in the Shield Final at the WACA.

NBL

Melbourne United defeated the Tasmanian Jack jumpers 104-81 in the first game of their best of 5 Championship series matches. Zac Tripplet had minimal court time.
