TERM THREE -Edition 14h August 2026
CBCA Book Week – Although we at GSSC have held our dress up day on the 14th of August, Book Week is still to come 22nd-28th August!
There will be more activities in each GSSC library for book week 22-28th August, flyers attached, be part of the fun to win some prizes!
Don’t forget there is large list of CBCA notable titles for 2026 Children’s Book Council of Australia – and GSSC libraries have them all! Browse through the booklet of notable titles and check out our displays – if your NH doesn’t have what you are looking for, check the others, or ask us 😊
Everyday Information – Each library has new activities on their whiteboard each morning! Guess a 9 letter word (Belinda in Dharnya’s evil streak makes sure this is a brilliant challenge!) work out the answer to a quiz, or a ‘true or false’, or learn a ‘Did you know’ fact.
Each library also has fresh and relevant displays that change all the time – some of these in Bayuna are interactive, have a go to win a lolly!
Lunchtime Libraries – Visit any of our GSSC libraries daily for Lunchtime Libraries. Remember to pop out and eat your lunch first (no food in the library please) then come in at 1:42 to enjoy the space, play some games such as Guess Who, Connect 4, Uno and others, relax with a great read, or just catch up with friends.
Library Collection – We are always working to improve our physical library collection for you – if you have any requests please let us know and we will add the titles if we can! Your libraries regularly feature an author of the month, please feel free to recommend one of these for us to display also! Recently we have acquired a bunch of titles in the ‘Who is’ series, and some ‘choose your own adventure’ style short reads, as well as regularly adding Reading Bookstore YA novels of the month, and other recommended titles.
Joan Recommends – Are you interested in classics with a twist? How about exploring our Twisted Tales series? This is where the classic fairytales are turned upside down and sideways in unexpected ways! There are ten to choose from across the three libraries.
