Girls Soccer

The Girls’ Senior Soccer team made it all the way to the Grand Final in the District Girls’ soccer event on Thursday 16/5/2024. With only 10 players, the Girls elegantly dispatched a well-structured Parkdale team 6 goals to nil. Hannah D scoring 4 goals in her soccer debut. She was ably supported by Molly S in the forward line and Alice S, who kept running all day. In a dicey game against the well-resourced McKinnon SC, we exposed their deficiencies in defence with 2 sublime goals from Jemima S and Remy J. Rebecca A was also stoic in goal, preventing any avenue into the game for the opposition. In the Grand Final, we encountered the full force of a well drilled Bentleigh SC. We played a more defensive formation against them, hoping to snatch a goal to win against the odds. It didn’t eventuate, although Emily G, Ruby M and Georgie A defended stoutly, as they did all day. The highlight in the final was Ruby M’s dash out of defence and long range shot into the top corner of the goal.

Well done to all the players and especially those new to the game. I hope they continue to play and enjoy soccer into the future.
