Principal Report

What a wonderful term we have had at Dana Street Primary School. Yet again, our students have excelled in their learning and extra-curricular endeavours.

This week I have been lucky enough to attend the 3/4 Lady Northcote Camp. It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside the 3/4 staff to experience the first camp for our students. The students have been amazing. Students have gone outside their comfort zone and participated in all the activities. From the giant swing to low ropes course, to bike riding and damper making, we really did it all. One of the highlights was the campfire tunes on the last night, finishing in a rousing rendition of Good Old Dana! A big thank you to Sue and Michael who came along as parent volunteers, we couldn’t have done it without you. 

A camp doesn’t just happen, and there was a lot of preparation and planning behind the scenes. Hours are spent planning the activities, sleeping arrangements, groupings, the list goes on. Thank you to Jess for leading that planning and all the 3/4 staff who supported and participated in the camp. Thank you, Jess, Sam B, Kate, Brooke, Sharon, Chloe and Kylie. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Yesterday saw the culmination of the unit of work for the 5/6 team. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek earlier in the week of the countries that students had created. Students created models of their country, flags, currency and brochures. Students did a wonderful job at promoting their country though conversations with visitors to the Expo on Thursday. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their creativity, teamwork and public speaking skills.

We would like to wish all of our families a very happy and safe holiday. We look forward to seeing all of our students back on Monday 5th October.
