Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

Wow! Is the only word to describe the incredible concert last night. As Principal I am so incredibly proud of the combined efforts of all our students. I am especially proud of the children who don’t normally relish the opportunity to perform on stage, for giving it a go! The finale was incredible. Thank you to all the different groups of people who made concert happen, with special thanks to the 3 incredible staff members, Mary Vescio, Jason Day and Grace Scaglione, for the script, the acting coaching, the finale and for the choreography.

Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now over for another year. Congratulations to everyone who participated. As a school we logged a total of 14,898 books. We had 307 students complete the challenge this year. Next term, those students who completed the challenge, will be awarded a special certificate and there will also be some ‘Premiers’ Reading Challenge’ champion pins presented to a student from each level who went above and beyond with reading and logging books this year. Thank you to Miss Lapadula for coordinating the event again this year.

Wellbeing

Tomorrow is ‘R U Ok Day?’. Whilst this day was originally created to help combat the rise in suicide in the community, for us, as a primary school, the focus is around reaching out and helping your friends. This is really just another component of ‘kindness matters at our school’, which we refer to constantly.

Next Thursday 17th September students are very welcome to wear odd socks to help raise awareness of the importance of mental health and to help celebrate individuality and differences in us all.

Student opportunity

This Friday our Year 5 students have the opportunity to participate in a special Volleyball training morning with Eltham High students as coaches. Thank you to Mr Bain for organising this opportunity. 

Variation to school hours day- 3 Way Conferences

Reminder that next Wednesday, 16th September is the Variation to School Hours Day- children only attend for their 3-way conference time.

Rubbish in the yard

We do have an increasing problem again with lots of student wrappers and plastic from lunch boxes in the yard. This is despite having lots of accessible bins and actively encouraging ‘nude food’ lunches. Hopefully we can all work together to minimise litter throughout the school next term.
